Anyone have good tips about creating wiring diagrams for our builds? I have been looking for software but most I have found have been geared towards circuit diagrams, not wiring.

If you use a CAD program that can read DWG files, you can begin quickly by importing sample files from the AeroElectric site (http://www.aeroelectric.com/PPS/). In addition to terrific basic designs, the site also includes useful symbol libraries you can use. There are a number of free CAD programs. I started with nanoCad on windows.

Microsoft paint works good too, but you have to be patient, its not the fastest way to draw a diagram.

I’m not really sure about Paint, it is barely one step above drawing by hand. The whole point about the specialised software is that it understands logic of wiring (and circuit) diagrams, automating things like connections, crossings, logic, plus the ability to easily use the vast library of symbols for all elements in the circuit (switches, breakers, fuses, resistors, LEDs and lamps, etc), which all bring their connection rules and logic, warning you if you connect anything incorrectly.
