Does it matter what type of static port I install?
I been looking at this one.
Static Port Aluminum 15160 Aluminum static port for mounting through 1/4 inch diameter hole in the side of the fuselage.

    Thanks

I used that one and found it to be perfectly suitable. I liked that I could use squeezed flush rivets to mount it to the support plates.

The plastic inserts can become a little brittle over time. If you need to test the static and pitot system periodically, it's worth investing in a good T-connector if you install two static ports, or upgrading the connector if you're only using one (which I would not recommend, two is very cheap insurance!).

By "good connector", I mean one which is either metal and won't break when you try to remove the tube, or uses screw-up locking system (e.g. nylaflow style connector) so it's easily undone to allow for the system to be tested.

I got a kit very similar to this. Quality was excellent and enough for the entire project.

Thank you. That is really what I was expecting to find but didn't come up in a search for static ports.

If the kit is what you need, get it. If you are looking for individual parts, consider places like https://www.steinair.com/product-category/pitot-static/

If anyone else goes searching for static ports the best keyword is plumbing kit. I think I am going with Dynon and found this.

            Thanks for everyone's help.

Or you could use a 5/16” aluminum pop rivet. They worked on mine for 15 years. Just pull the stem until it almost breaks, then drive it back through the rivet and slide the 1/4” static line over it.

I used the Dynon kit and found it to be very good. It contains everything you need, including a small tool for cutting the tubing and all connectors.
