Rudder Cable Attachment Parts

I am currently doing the rudder system and I am not sure where all the bushings go. I used 4 of the short ones between the flat metal stock and the AN3 mounting bolt (selected the taller ones and sanded the outer diameter a bit to allow easy rotation). This gave me attachment points at the front and rear pedals. What are the others intended for?

The plans show where the bushings are to be used. Mostly in the rear seat rudder cables. There might be two used on the pilot pedals. But looks like you might have a few extras. Mark

Thanks Mark, for clarifying. I assume the front pedal links would benefit from having bushings installed too. Just have to make a few more from the tube stock.

I think I will install the cotter pins on the outside. Less wear and less chance to hook into your pants/shoes.

That works. I actually didn’t do it this way but simply made up a push pull tube to interconnect the front and back rudder pedals. Nothing at all to snag and no flipping cables.

I like your push pull tube idea! I used a piece of this SS strip. Maybe .080 x 1" same as on my S1A Interstate which has lasted 80 years so far.

Some notes about assembly:

• I made sure the cable links rotate freely on the bushings. I reduced the diameter slightly and adjusted the length to just prevent the bolt from squeezing the links.
• The rudder horn is slightly thicker than the shackle allows. Slightly bending the shackle open is necessary.
