  • Bearhawk Wannabe

Hi folks. New guy just joined up. I have recently (last 12 months or so) been focused on finding a Cessna 180 for backcountry travels, and have now had my eyes opened wide by the Bearhawk 4 place. How I have not focused on this aircraft in the past I do not know (tunnel vision!). At least on paper, the 540 powered BH looks like it checks all my boxes, and its experimental! So, here is my question. Any of you Bearhawk drivers out there would be interested in showing me your plane with a short flight, too? I would be delighted to buy the gas and lunch, too. I live near Atlanta, but would be able to travel to just about anywhere in the lower 48 to do this.
A few words about me, currently fly an Air Cam on amphibs, which I built (my second one), so doing a quick build or finishing a kit is not an issue...I know how to "eat the elephant"!, long time tailwheel guy, and am about to retire early from my major airline job. I am fairly tall (6'4") but not very heavy (200 lbs) so fitting comfotably in the BH is important.
So, thanks in advance for any and all responses. Am looking forward to see if I am ready to jump into the deep end of the Bearhawk pool!

Welcome to the Forum Mr. Seebird. If your interest is building from our Quick Build kit, you are welcome to call and discuss the Bearhawk and our kits for it. Mark Goldberg. Bearhawk Aircraft 512/626-7886.

I'm just north of Charlotte NC in Hickory and I'd be glad to give you a tour and go for a flight, though I have the smaller engine. As of today I have the cabin taken apart for that section of the condition inspection, but that won't be the case for long hopefully. Feel free to call me at 828-308-1543.

Thank you all so far for the kind replies! Tailwind, where are you in Wisconsin, and what type of motor is in your Bearhawk? Did all you guys scratchbuild, or are any quickbuilds?

I live north of Eau Claire, wi. The plane is powered by the lycoming O 360 engine with an MT propeller. Mine is a quick build kit. It is a little heavier than some because of the finish work. I built it for me and I am happy with it. It still performs well and I know where the wait is and could remove it easily. They are a great plane.
