  • Drain grommets

Im assuming drain grommets required in both the elevator and horizontal stabs?

In the polyfiber system it is acceptable to make drain holes without grommets as long as there are two layers of fabric. There are two layers right beside each rib, which is where you want the holes anyway, because of the reinforcing tapes. I used the soldering iron/pencil method, where you melt a hole with the iron tip, then insert a wooden pencil point to give the hole a nice shape before it cools.

Good tip on the pencil, I hadn't heard that one.

Yes drains are required in both, however you don't necessarily need a drain in every bay unless you're thinking seaplane.
