  • Its Official - My Patrol is now an Airplane

At least the FAA says it is. I got my Airworthiness Certificate today. A couple of FAA inspectors came down from Jackson, spent about 1/2 hour looking over the airplane and didn't find any deficiencies. We then spent about 1 1/2 hours going through all the paperwork, my builder's log, etc. In the end, I got my A.W. certificate and operating limitations. Here is a picture of FAA Safety Inspector Robert Mahaffey handing my the A.W. certificate.

Congratulations! Only 2 hours - great!
Our one took 6... we needed to have a lot of paperwork prepared for them. But the aircraft inspection took a couple of hours too.

We all know this thing is *light*, I am keen to hear/see how quickly it'll get airborne!

My first flight is going to be delayed a bit. During runups and taxi testing I experienced some problems with the prop that I was using and have just decided to just order a WhirlWind constant speed prop through Mark. Not sure how long it will take to get it but I suspect at least 6 to 8 weeks.

Sorry to hear that Eric, but glad you didn't have the stresses of learning about it in the test flights!

That sucks - hopefully nothing too serious and the prop isn't a total loss??
