There used to be some amazing airplanes. Beech Staggerwing, Swift, Wittman Tailwind. Consider how long ago 180's and Bonanzas entered production. When I saw the prototype of the Lancair at Oshkosh, I knew I saw perfection. I knew, on my best day, I could not design something better. 38 years later, I read about a BH, and realized it was the same as a Lancair in 1981. I could not do better.

I would still love to have a stable of brilliant airplanes. But if I can only have one........ Tailwinds go for a pretty low price on the used market.

Thanks guys! We started the engine again a week later to check the engine driven fuel pump operation. We confirmed it was not working so we sent it off for another overhaul from a different shop. $1000 later we have a good working pump.

Mark M, I'm hopeful that with the system overhaul we won't have to adjust the fuel system. If we do I'll document and share.
