  • Rotisserie Pivot Height

So, job one for my Companion project will be fabricating my rotisserie. I will be fabricating both ends of the rotisserie from surplus 2" x 2" 16ga steel tube I have in my workshop so I can make it the way I want. Not having the kit in house yet, I wonder what height both ends of the rotisserie need to be. Recommendations?

Mine are just over 45" on both ends. The firewall side has some adjustment, the rear also has some adjustment. The bottom legs need to be tied together.

Can't remember the exact height, but I made mine adjustable.

Thanks. That's from the floor level, right? I think I'll give myself a little more, maybe around 48" just to make sure

Yes, floor to center of pivot point on the top.

Yep, I've watched that video a half-dozen times so far. Thanks!

Mine are 45", the pivot point on the front of mine is even with the two upper outboard engine mounting holes, the rear is 6" above the bottom of the lower longeron. It is a little bottom heavy, maybe takes 15lbs push to get it horizontal. Maybe an inch lower on one end or the other would be perfect balance.

I just used 2x2 wood with U-bolts for the connector on the bottom.

I made mine a little shorter than I wish I had. Make sure you can attach the gear with it on the rotisserie or going from gear to rotisserie and back is a pain.
            Almost flying!

I wish I had thought of that.

I built mine out of Sq tube I had laying around the shop. For my LSA I'm centered @ 42" above the floor but also made the bases with several adjustments @ 2" intervals so could go up or down as needed. My ends are not connected and work fine.

If you make it tall enough it'll work for the wings too.

While you're at it, just make one tall enough for the fuselage with the wings on! Now that would be amazing!

Very nice and neat. Gives me something to aspire to on my own rotisserie!
