4-place Bearhawk C-FYMR made a successful first flight yesterday . Wow, it climbs like crazy on takeoff, and I was indicating 100 mph. I haven’t look at the ROC, but I was amazed. Flight lasted 1.0 hrs, circling over the airport at 2300’ MSL. Ran the engine at 75% and 95% power for ring seating. Ouch, she’s thirsty. I think I saw 22 GPH at 95%, full rich. CHT were surprisingly low, at 354 max. Oil temp was on the low side, at 165 Max. OAT of 38 F certainly help. I need to block some of my oil cooler before the next flight. Left wing was a bit heavy, but other than that, everything went very well. Jared Yates’ transition training was a big help.Conditions were perfect here, clear sky, wind calm...we dont see many of these days up here in November.
Looking forward to finish my 25 hrs test flight...
Some Spec: O-540, low compression piston, 240hp, Bendix Mag with Slick Start, PC680 battery on the firewall, CATTO FP prop, 1484 empty weight at 10.64'', gull wing door, 8.50x6 tires, basic VFR panel.
