Main tank fuel drain

Just installing the main tank fuel drain valve. The mount for the drain is touching the bottom skin, with the tank spaced equidistant between the top and bottom skins, so that he drain valve will protrude about 1/2 inch below the bottom skin - you can probably get the idea from the photo below.
Is this normal?

I was looking at those too Jared, however I wasn’t sure that it would clear the tank filter. I’ve got only 3/4 inch clearance between the bottom of the threaded portion and the fuel finger strainer that sits just above the drain valve.

This pic shows how they sit in the tank.

I never thought once about the clearance there. But I used those very same parts. Looks like its working for me. I also adjusted the position of the tank to make the drain sit in a more ideal location. So I guess my tanks might not be perfectly evenly spaced from top to bottom.

Yes that is normal, remember to leave a large hole around the drain valve - large enough to easily get a socket over the valve without removing the lower tank cover. Trust me you will need it.

Mine also sit proud of the bottom skin as well. Probably 3/8 to 1/2".
