I’m excited to be flying the BH into Oshkosh this year. Who else is planning on flying in? I’d love to park near other builders, if possible, or at least have a way to get together. Perhaps Facebook would be a better platform to coordinate? Ideas?

We'll be there camping in our Maule in the North 40 all week. Could not get the the BH done in time (just painting now). Next year, though !!

Looking forward to seeing you and your plane there! If the weather allows we'll be flying in. I prefer Homebuilt Camping. The way they seem to do the parking there is that the first airplanes to arrive are parked farther west, and it fills up eastward towards the forums area as the week goes on. We get directed to a spot, without any input from us. Sometimes a few Bearhawks will end up in proximity but I think it's more by coincidence than intent. Perhaps Bcone1381 has more insight on this topic. Last year we were surrounded by RV10s and we didn't really have sufficient wingspan clearance on the taxi out when it was time to leave.

Sometimes folks fly in but stay in town instead of camping. For them, the Showplane parking is hard to beat. The plane is in a great spot to be seen from a marketing perspective, and to use as a home base for your logistics during the show. However, that area does get a lot of foot traffic, so if you are particular about people touching your plane, it may not be the best choice.

We are planning to fly up from GA. Since the kit came last week I’m planning to fly my Baron up. Hope to park in vintage camping. Arriving on Friday.

Last year I volunteered as an Aircraft Greeter. Meaning you get parked by that group of volunteers then I'm the guy that says "Welcome to Oshkosh!! Tie your aircraft down before you register over there."

So I have no knowledge that will help nor do I recall how to control where you park. But I suspect that if there was a spot or area where you desired to park, then the volunteers would absolutely (w/99% certainty) accommodate and facilitate your reasonable request. You are the ones EAA serves. Not vice versa.

I'll be Greeting in Homebuilt Camping on Fri, Sat, and Sunday noon until sunset.

I'll be camping out in the campground with my little camper, stove and coffee pot.

I’ll be flying the Cub in and parking in vintage. plan is to fly to New Holstein on Thursday and spend one night there, then fly to Oshkosh Friday morning. for those of you with tail draggers, you should check out New Holstein, 8D1. They host a nice gathering of tail draggers on a grass strip. It’s just across Lake Winnebago from OSH and is a low key start to a hectic week. check out fonha.org if you’re interested.

the cub is slow, so i want to do the Fisk arrival first thing in the morning. New Holstein lets me stage nearby.

It would be great if we could all get together for dinner or something, especially in light of our three visitors from NZ. In the past, Mark arranged a Tuesday evening offsite which was much appreciated, but maybe we builders should take over. Virgil is surely up to his ears prepping for the booth. I talked to Brooks, and he agrees we should look into it. I’ll make some calls to see if we can get a venue on the OSH grounds to make logistics easier, but going offsite works too if enough people have cars. Please share your thoughts. Sounds like we have plane campers, campground campers, and offsite folks.

If that doesn’t work, we can at least gather at the pirates cove in vintage for grog one evening. that’s always fun and only a short stumble from my tent ?

Having helped with the hosting for some of the years past, I am happy to share what we learned, but can't commit to making it all happen. The hardest part is the venue. The place that Mark was using was great once we got there but required some transportation. There is still time to arrange for some food, but it is a big job to put on a full dinner, especially for those of us who won't have a car. If we wanted to keep things simple and just have a gathering spot without providing food, we could probably get away with being somewhere on the grounds, as long as it doesn't rain.

I really enjoyed the walking tour that Brooks suggested last year. By being on the move every 10-20;minutes, none of the non-participants can complain about the group being assembled in one spot. And it can be hard to know when a pilot is going to be at the plane otherwise.

Re Tuesday Dinner: I will have a full size van in Camp Shroller. I can help with anything. I have access to 8 foot long tables at my home that I can bring.

I can talk and open my moutn, but I like following, serving others,"doing" rather than leading, and do well with contributing ideas and data to leadership of an event. I'm am grateful for Jared's input and Wayne's leadership. So I'll PM a few folks on this topic. Wayne and Jared.

Re Bearhawk Walk: I can lead the Bearhawk Walk...we did it last year; it was a no brainer. Just meet and go. Last year word got out, I walked around to scope out the route and it worked out very well. The event is vastly improved when the owner presents his aircraft to us. We had that at just about each stop last year. If you are flying your Bearhawk in to Oshkosh consider reaching out to me and opt in/out. If you fear talking in front of a group, we can turn it into a Q/A type of presentation. "I own or built this: any Questions?" can open up a great experience too.
