A friend is looking at this Bearhawk for sale. Anyone know anything about it? Seems surprising that it's only 50K.

Interesting seeing the cargo door on the left. I've not seen the plane before. The builder's name is easily searchable though, in case he was in any of the old Yahoo groups.

The 95 mph cruise scares me. If mine cruises at 95mph with a constant speed prop i will be extremely disappointed. Yikes

Price is most likely twice what the plane is worth.
I have viewed it and consider it a good rebuild project.

Why is it so slow? Looks like probably a prop strike considering the engine hours, not everything fixed?

Wont load for me but it might be the BH that the owner failed to compensate for the larger engine yaw and crashed on departure. Do a N number search and it should show up.

I'm not interested in purchase. I was just curious how it ended up so slow and to avoid those same mistakes whatever they might be.

As far as I know the plane has not been in an accident.
It has suffered from a turbulent gestation period of several owners who were looking for and getting a
“ Bargin” they were not up to the challenge, skill or
financially to up the game, hence a down hill slide.
The plane could be Great in the proper hands with
a good infusion of cash. The basic foundation is sound.

Part of the reason the plane is slow is, lots of drag, bad wingtips, no fairings anywhere, gear or struts and a tail wheel that is massive and the cowling inlets and cooling exit are the worst configuration possible.
And there is a possibility that the engine is a 150 hp
0-320 overproped with a O-360 CS propeller.

So buyer beware : )
and MAKE YOUR PLANE A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT ( stick close to the plans )

All that doesn't add up to a 95 mph cruise speed. The person selling doesn't know anything about it?

The aluminum work that you can see doesn't look very good. The pictures don't show enough welding detail. I can't guess what I think it is worth. It might be a parts donor only, or a decent project.
